I wish to
personally welcome everyone to MSU and our Annual Convention & Show. The
one weekend we look back at the past year to honor the achievements and
contributions of our members. We also begin a new year with much
enthusiasm for the future. This is a time to renew old friendships and a
wonderful time to make many new friendships as we spend time with our
extended rabbit family.
This year we
begin our weekend with an expanded Rabbit School on Friday. The School
will begin in the afternoon. This very informative activity is open to
all adults and youth and the presentations will benefit breeders of all
ages and experience levels. Through the generosity of our sponsors: ARBA
District 8 - Director Terry Fender, copies of the information presented
will be given to all attendees. There is no charge for this event, and
we encourage you to preregister so we will know how many copies to have
available. We are very pleased to have these very distinguished ARBA
Judges: Eric Stewart, ARBA Executive. Director; Terry Fender, ARBA District 8
Director; Scott Wiebensohn, ARBA Internet Response Committee; Ruth Ann Bell,
Judges Education Committee; Pam Jones, ARBA Standards Committee; and Willis
Plank, ARBA Show Rules Committee. A complete schedule and registration
form is included in the catalog. I hope that you will make plans to
attend as your continued support is necessary to keep this activity as a
part of our weekend.
On Saturday we
have our Convention Rabbit Show, plus judging for some of the breeds
from the Split Show, during the day with plenty of time left over that
evening to enjoy the company of friends and family at the Annual
Banquet. For the past three years we have had the privilege of using the
University Club of MSU, attached to our headquarters hotel, for our
banquet. The format remains a plated meal. Make your reservations early
as the number attending this wonderful activity has doubled from the
year 2008 and has increased each year since.
On Sunday we have
judging for the remainder of the breeds in the All Breed Split Show -
Show B and another All Breed Show - Show C.
Again this year
we will have a Photo Contest and the MSRBYA has added an Educational
Contest. Details are listed elsewhere in this catalog and on our
website.
It is through the
efforts of your show committee and your officers who have given
countless hours of their time, that we have a successful and enjoyable
Convention weekend. I hope you will take a moment to personally express
your appreciation for their efforts. This is the only payment they
receive for their hard work.
I look forward to
seeing everyone and sharing in the fellowship and friendly competition.
Please take time to read the rules and event schedule and familiarize
yourself with the deadlines and changes. Make your show selections and
get ready head to East Lansing March 2th - 4th. This is going to be
another fantastic MSRBA Convention.
